The Association Montessori Internationale was founded in 1929 by Dr. Maria Montessori to maintain the integrity of her life’s work, and to ensure that it would be perpetuated after her death. Today, AMI continues to uphold these standards by offering high-quality, authentic and rigorous teacher training through its affiliated training centers.

AMI’s activities include:

-Providing guidance for AMI training courses;
-Co-ordinating a Training of Trainers programme;
-Guiding the manufacturers recognised by AMI in the production of approved Montessori materials;
-Overseeing the publication of Dr. Montessori’s books;
-Organising congresses and study conferences;
-Affiliating Montessori Societies
-Publishing the magazine ‘Communications, the AMI Bulletin and a website

AMI diploma is internationally recognised for their high standard and authenticity. AMI diploma is used in over 110 countries as a mark of teacher training excellence. Graduates of AMI training courses must demonstrate understanding of educational theory, child development, observation techniques, use and presentation of the Montessori materials, and ability to create appropriate activities for children.

In AMI Montessori, the curriculum is the same as conceived by Maria Montessori. The purity of the original Montessori methodology is maintained in AMI Montessori. An AMI recognized school endeavors to adhere to the highest standards for Montessori classrooms, those closest to the principles and standard practice that Maria Montessori developed originally and assures parents that the teachers are fully trained by AMI.
